Open Sky: Outdoor Education
Base camp to the rest of the world.
Every Marin Primary & Middle School student builds a connection with nature that supports their intellectual, social, and physical growth.
With the ever-growing landscape of technology and increased use of screens, now more than ever, time spent learning about our natural surroundings is essential.
We use Marin County, and the Bay Area as a whole, as a classroom to inspire joyful learning, honor each child, and build connections to empower all students to make a difference.
Preschool: Tree School

Our unique Tree School program harnesses the incredible naturescapes of Marin County as a rich and ever-evolving classroom for all of our preschool students. Tree School outings are rain-or-shine and characterized by joy, wonder, and togetherness.
Through regular outdoor adventures guided by our two dedicated Tree School teachers, students build gross and fine motor skills, learn about native flora and fauna, and develop an understanding of the importance of stewarding the Earth.
Two-year-old classes participate in Tree School once each month; three-year-old and Pre-K classes participate every other week.
Primary School: Pathfinders

In Primary School, local outings continue as students explore all that Marin has to offer in tandem with lessons in science and our Garden Classroom.
Overnight trips begin in 3rd grade with a local camping expedition. In 4th grade, students spend two nights in gold country as part of their exploration of California history.
