Staying Connected During Campus Closure

We recognize that there will be challenges as we transition to distance learning, and that some of you may be feeling overwhelmed. The goal of this program, first and foremost, is to create a sense of normalcy through connection and routine. At Marin Primary & Middle School, we believe that our best teaching and learning happen through relationships with one another. I am confident that our dedicated and talented teachers have put together programs for your children that will promote connection and foster their adaptability and resilience. As we rise to the challenge of these unusual circumstances, I hope you will reach out if you have concerns about the workload or expectations set by your teachers.  We are embracing a growth mindset, learning as we go, and will continue to make adjustments to our plans throughout the coming weeks.

We recognize that the unfolding events may be causing fear and anxiety in students. If your child is experiencing stress or anxiety about information they have overheard adults or the news media discussing, School Counselor Kate Brubaker is available to any students experiencing distress over this situation.

• Our custodial service continues to take extra measures even during our campus closure to ensure that our campus remains disinfected and safe.

Please read below for a friendly reminder for when campus reopens about when to keep your children home from school.

Sick children seldom gain anything from being at school and should recover at home for their health and the health of others. Let the symptoms guide your decision and if any of the following exist, please keep the student home. Note: As the CDC continues to develop screening guidelines for Coronavirus detection, these may supersede our FRG policies.

● Fever: (Temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher). Students must be fever-free for 24 hours, without fever reducing medication, before returning to school.

● Cough: If cough is frequent, producing phlegm or accompanied by a sore throat or wheezing, keep your child at home. Sore throat: If child has tender, swollen glands and a fever of 100 or higher, keep your child at home.

● Vomiting: Students may not return to school until at least 24 hours after the last episode.

● Diarrhea: Frequent, loose bowel movements (3 or more in 24 hours) are often caused by gastrointestinal infections. Students should stay home until diarrhea has decreased to no more than twice a day and/or the child is fully recovered.

● Eye Infections/conjunctivitis: Should be evaluated by the Primary Care Provider. Students may return to school when they are under treatment. Encourage good hand washing to decrease transmission.

● Antibiotics: A child must be kept at home for at least 24 hours after starting antibiotics.
