Why the Harpy Eagle is So Fast and the Sloth is So Slow
By Noah

In the old days, Sloth was as fast as Harpy Eagle and Harpy Eagle was as slow as Sloth. Harpy Eagle wanted to be as fast as Sloth and Sloth wanted to be as slow as Harpy Eagle. So they went to Panther to ask him how they could change speeds. He told them that if Sun shone on them, they would change speeds. So they asked Sun to shine on them. Sun said, "I would if I could but Cloud is in my way." So they asked Cloud to move. Cloud said, "I would if I could but Wind has to blow me aside." So they asked Wind to blow Cloud so Sun could shine on them so they would change speeds. Wind said, "No."

Sloth had an idea. He asked Harpy Eagle for a feather. Wind was sleeping. Sloth tickled Wind with the feather. Wind woke up and SNEEZED!! It moved Cloud so that Harpy Eagle and Sloth changed speeds. They went home, were happy, and have those speeds to this day.

How the Orchid Bloomed
By Eve

In the old days, the orchid never bloomed in spring. The orchid was frustrated and he hid from the other flowers. Then one day, a fairy in beautiful robes of pink orchid pointed a leaf-like wand at the stamen of the orchid and said, "Averitaserum."The orchid gasped; the orchid was blooming.

Then a roller coaster- like tornado zoomed past. It was the flower misery man. He stomped on the orchid's leaf and cursed him, saying, "Close up you disgusting, stupid orchid!"

Luckily the fairy was close by and she cursed the misery man with a counter-curse saying, "Reducto! You be gone-0h." The misery man turned blue and crashed to the forest floor, crumbled into pieces, and was never seen again. The orchid was happy. So, mad or not, the orchid bloomed in spring, and he never had to be frustrated or hide from the other orchids again.

How the Monkey Got Its Tail
by Riley

Once upon a time, there was a monkey who had no tail whatsoever. That monkey wanted a tail so badly that he would do anything to get a tail; he always stood under a big oak tree praying for a tail.

Then one day a magic Gedd (a Gedd is a sacred God that animals worship) saw him praying for a tail. The Gedd asked Mr. Monkey why he wanted a tail so much. The monkey responded by saying, "So I can play with Mr. Bat in the tree."

The Gedd said, " I can give you a tail, but you must find me a cocktail-topper, a raindrop, and a magic wise toad."

"Will do," said Mr. Monkey. Then suddenly it started raining and Mr. Monkey said, "Here is a rain drop."

"Good," said the Gedd, "now go get that cocktail-topper."

So the monkey went into the forest and found a cocktail-topper, but he got into a fight that lasted about six hours and in the end, the monkey caught the cocktail-topper and brought it to the Gedd. The Gedd sent Mr. Monkey to fetch Wise Toad and two hours later he returned and gave Wise Toad to the Gedd and the Gedd made a machine for the monkey.

Mr. Monkey stepped inside the machine and when he stepped out he had a tail. To test the tail out, he jumped onto the tree and swung with his tail. After he knew it worked, he went to play with Bat. Then they went skimmering, shimmering and simmering through the trees.

How the Wolf Spider Got Its Orange Color
By Ian

One day thousands and thousands and thousands of years ago there lived a wise wolf spider who was lonely and sad because he was the only spider with no color. He dreamed that he had orange smooth skin that shimmered in the sun. Every time he awoke he had a feeling that he really had color but when he looked in a puddle of water, the realized that he was the same as when he went to bed.

One day he decided to see the wise color wizard of the rain forest. So he started his journey. He traveled far and wide until he came to a flock of birds. He asked in his loudest voice, "Do you have any idea where the wise color wizard of the rain forest is?" The flock yelled back, "That way!" and they made the shape of an arrow pointing to the right.

He traveled through bushes and logs till he found a sloth high in the tree. He shouted, "Hey up there, would you care to tell me the way to the wise color wizard of the rain forest?" The sloth slowly started to the right and said, Right" and pointed. The wise wolf spider said, politely, "Thank you sir".

He then set off unit he found a kinkajou and he asked if he knew what direction he should take to find the wise color wizard of the rain forest. The kinkajou said, "Right" and scurried away. The wise wolf spider said, "As always," and set off.

He traveled through the rain forest until he came found himself face to face with the wise color wizard of the rain forest. "You've come, little spider. I've heard about your journey to me from the flock, sloth and the kinkajou and they all said that you were coming!" exclaimed the wise color wizard of the rain forest. "What have you come for?" asked the wizard.

"I have come for color," said the wolf spider.

"Which color do you want? Pick a color, any color."

"How about orange?" asked the wolf spider. "Add a little bit of white under my wings and add little stripes of black on my back and my legs and that is it".

"OK," said the wise color wizard of the rain forest. "Are you ready?"

"Yes, I am," said the wolf spider.

"Then stand still. Go!"

POOF! The spider opened his eyes and he realized that he was orange and everything else he wanted, too. But, there was something on his back - a yellow crown shape

The wise color wizard caught him looking at it. He said, "That is for the bravery you put into this journey of yours. This is to honor this journey to you and forever."
