We teach students everything they need to be able to use computers to create powerful and effective work. Plenty of access to computer labs in both the primary and middle school, a computer in each classroom, access to wireless laptops and a well trained technical staff ensure that MP&MS students attain a superior level of computer literacy.

We don't teach technology as a subject in itself, but integrate computer technologies into relevant coursework. In JK-4, the computer curriculum is oriented toward visual learning, thinking and problem solving through fun learning activities and projects related to classroom work. Exposure to keyboarding, educational software, word processing and graphic arts software all help build basic computer literacy. By third or fourth grade, students are introduced to basic Internet use. They may also create their own Web site, learn to write simple code, create animated figures, or collaborate on a team Web site.

In the upper grades, the technology program and classroom curriculum continue to be integrated so that students are taught the skills necessary to add depth and dimension to projects and homework. By the end of eighth grade, students have completed a variety of projects with incorporate multiple skills such as keyboarding, word processing, Internet searching, outlining, drawing, calculating, incorporating visual effects and using the computer as a visual aid for public speaking.

All of the computers at school are connected through our Ethernet network, providing access to the internet, e-mail, library databases and online information resources. All of our computers are equipped with multimedia capabilities. Each classroom workstation has immediate access to saved files, the internet and a wide variety of educational software.

Our Web site itself is growing as a resource to be used by students and families at our school. Links to useful information, classroom web pages, news and events, an online writers magazine, and book reviews can all be found here. More and expanded features are regularly added to the website. Check back often to see what's new!
