To join a committee, please contact PA President Kristen Goff.
Our School’s only event-based fundraiser is made possible because of the amazing team of parent volunteers who plan and execute this event. Volunteers are needed with skills and interests ranging from solicitations of donated items, database management, data entry, event planning, and project management, copywriting, website-building, decorating, logistics and more. Planning for this spring event begins in the early fall.
Friends of the Library (FOL)
The FOL committee supports the school’s David Hale Library by promoting literacy, planning and running the annual Book Fair, and supporting library activities and events. Trained FOL volunteers also work on a weekly basis to check out and reshelf books.
The Green Team spearheads environmental education and awareness activities that support the school’s eco efforts. The committee looks for new ways to “act green” and supports ongoing efforts including composting, encouraging no-waste lunches, recycling, reducing carbon emissions via Walk & Roll to School Days, and championing off-campus community/environmental service activities for families.
Outdoor Education Center (OEC):
Our OEC Team is made up of parents who support the OEC teachers in maintaining our beautiful MP&MS garden. This group helps with occasional and ongoing maintenance including planting and small building or repair jobs. Other efforts include community outreach and preparation and organization of our memorable annual Harvest Festival and other garden events.
The Speaker Series committee organizes sessions with outside speakers that allow parents to pursue our understanding of the cognitive, emotional and social aspects of both learning and teaching. This team is a perfect match for parents with a background or interest in education and child psychology. Volunteers will work with division directors and interested teachers to select speakers, plan, and coordinate events.
Sock Hop / Bunny Hop
This team of volunteers plans and staffs our annual night of 1950’s be-bopping fun. Volunteers are needed to help set up and decorate this playful family event, take pictures, supervise the playground, serve food and drinks, and staff the always popular Soda Fountain.
This is a perfect place for volunteers who love to celebrate Halloween! This group oversees our costume exchange, decorates for our campus parade, and provides refreshments for parents. Volunteers are needed to help set up and decorate, supervise the parade route, and help take down the decor post-parade.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
The Teacher Appreciation team celebrates our teachers at different points during the year and plans an annual celebration for teachers and staff. This event usually takes place during the week following the end of school.
This group is designed to create a social community for the men of MP&MS. Events may include dinner out at a local restaurant or fellow parent’s home, golfing and lunch, and much more. The goal of this group is to create new friendships across all grades.
