How Making Time for Mindfulness Helps Students
The practice of mindfulness is an integral component of our work at Marin Primary & Middle School. In classrooms, in community meetings, on the playground, and throughout our daily lives here, we understand that the unique benefits of “mindful moments” are far-reaching for personal, social, and academic growth. A growing body of research indicates that mindfulness in education can reduce anxiety, increase engagement, and expand our capacity for learning. In a recent study, the Boston Charter Research Collaborative – a partnership between the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University, MIT, and Transforming Education – looked at the ways mindfulness can improve students’ ability to succeed.
