The Marin Primary & Middle School preschool is a developmental, play-based program where children thrive in our nurturing classrooms. Guided by supportive teams of teachers, they explore and discover, learning through play, building self confidence, gaining independence, and developing critical social skills through their interactions with their teachers and other children. Our program supports the cognitive and social emotional growth of young children, guided by the principles of Developmentally Appropriate Practices for Young Children from the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Our beautiful preschool building includes six classes for children who are two-, three-, and four-years-old, with each class led by two head teachers. Even our youngest students benefit from participation in specialist classes in Spanish, music, library and garden, with physical education added in our four-year-old program. Our spacious campus encompasses two enclosed playgrounds designed for the toddlers and older preschool children, a designated outdoor art area for preschoolers, an outdoor education center with an organic learning garden, sports court and fields, art and music studios, library media center, and outdoor play spaces. The preschool program enjoys a close connection with our primary and middle schools.
Our preschool teachers treasure childhood and encourage learning and exploration in the classroom and beyond as they help children become creative thinkers, confident explorers, and responsible citizens of the world. In addition to activities with our buddies in the primary and middle schools, preschool students enjoy field trips to local farms, museums, aquariums, pumpkin patches, and the fire station.
We are pleased to offer flexible scheduling options, including a late afternoon program until 6:00 p.m. There is no additional charge for early arrival beginning at 7:30 a.m. Most summers our campus is open to a vibrant preschool day camp led by teachers from our school.

“Our never-ending readiness to listen to parents’ questions and insights creates something invaluable: trust. We encourage parents to be involved with their child’s learning experience—even if that means changing how we’ve always done things. Our preschool is a genuinely warm environment where children can be at ease, and can be themselves, and where parents’ perceptions and talents are welcomed.”
