At our Preschool, the staff loves being here, so the kids love being here. Many of our teachers have been here for years and in most ways, they're responsible for making us who we are: a community of mutually-supportive and innovative educators. We hire teachers who just naturally prefer being with young children. And so it goes: excellent teachers attract more excellent teachers.

As a learning community, we believe that encouraging good character is most important. We celebrate differences - those on the outside and the inside - making it easier for children to express feelings and opinions. We show children how to respect the boundaries of others. All this leads to children who like themselves and who appreciate both their schoolmates and their teachers.

At MP&MS, we're always conscious of where a child is developmentally. Because, after all, school is not their idea - children simply want to feel accepted and capable. It's our job to find ways to help them, by creating joyful and stimulating learning environments. To us, this means following each child's lead - being flexible and spontaneous. Here, each child feels special. Play is the primary tool for growth and self expression. Our days are filled with play, art, music, projects and words. At MP&MS, everyone has the same goal: to be a teacher who sees through a child's eyes.
